Two‑Time Defending Champions Picked MIAA Favorites in 2026‑27 Men's Basketball Preseason Polls
The Mid‑America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) released its men’s basketball preseason coaches poll, anointing Washburn as the overwhelming favorite for the 2026‑27 season. Washburn, which captured both the regular‑season and tournament crowns the past two years, returns a veteran roster complemented by a strong recruiting class. The poll also placed Emporia State and Missouri Western in the top three, indicating a competitive race for the conference crown. Coaches cited Washburn’s depth, experience, and defensive efficiency as key reasons for the top ranking. The poll will shape early‑season narratives and influence seeding considerations for the MIAA tournament.
