WIREOct 16
UCF adds exhibition vs Rollins College
The University of Central Florida announced a preseason exhibition game against Rollins College, a Division II program from the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The matchup will give Rollins a rare opportunity to compete against a Power Five opponent, providing valuable experience for its players and a showcase for the program. For UCF, the game serves as a low‑stakes tune‑up before the regular season begins, allowing the coaching staff to evaluate depth and experiment with lineups. The exhibition also highlights the growing trend of Division I schools scheduling games with Division II teams to broaden exposure and strengthen regional ties.
COACHINGOct 11
Sonoma State appoints Aaron Landon as men’s basketball head coach
Aaron Landon, who guided St. Martin’s University to three GNAC regular‑season titles and two NCAA Division II regional appearances, has been hired as the new head coach of the Sonoma State Seawolves. The move returns Landon to California after a successful five‑year stint at St. Martin’s. Sonoma State, a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association, is looking to rebuild its program ahead of the 2027 season. Landon's experience at the Division II level is expected to elevate recruiting and on‑court performance for the Seawolves.
